BIOGRAPHY
When DJ Alison Wonderland wanted to create a solo album, she sought out Brendan to co-write and co-produce her 2015 US NO.1 album. Together, they also created official remix's for Ladyhawke and Sam Sparro, alongside several highly praised releases as Whyte Fang. Fellow AW collaborator, Brave, invited Brendan to play guitar and bass for his self-titled 2015 EP, released through MGM.
Brendan's career started young. Throughout his teens he toured as a jazz/blues session musician and with Australian charting Pop act Waikiki. In 2003, he became 1/4 of Australian born, London based band Howling Bells. They were met with high critical praise, earning a 9/10 in NME, 8/10 in Pitchfork and 4/5 in both Mojo and Filter Magazines. With Brendan on bass guitar and as co-writer for their first 3 UK charting albums, Howling Bells enjoyed huge international success, touring with Snow Patrol, The Killers, Coldplay, No Doubt, Mercury Rev and The Editors.
It was in 2008, upon meeting his future wife, that Brendan was introduced to DJing. In turn, this led him to sampling, remixing and producing. His musical preferences are varying & eclectic, with a keen appreciation for every genre of music. His particular skill set as a DJ includes his technical ability to beat-mix seamlessly from Hip/Hop to House to Soul to Rock 'n' Roll, and everything in between, with a keen knowledge of how to get the floor pumping.
Brendan has been a long term regular behind the decks at the most prestigious venues in London: Movida, Maddox, Punk, The Met, Bungalow 8, with residencies at The Ivy and The Sanderson. He played various private parties for Coldplay, The Killers, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow, JayZ and has played London Fashion Week aftershows for designers Todd Lynn and Roland Mouret. In his hometown of Sydney, a similar demand for him saw Brendan playing residencies at Kit & Kaboodle, The Supper Club, Soda Factory, Oxford Arts, Chinese Laundry and Cargo Bar. Most notably, Brendan has played alongside Hayden James, Alison Wonderland, DJ Scratch, LDRBY & Lauren Laverne.
Presently, alongside his UK/LA recording schedule, Brendan can be found playing residencies at Old St Records, Proud Galleries, and as one half of DJ duo ‘Bare Islands’ at Forest On The Roof, Selfridges.
